Faith-Based Marriage Counseling in Sarasota: Where to Begin
Updated: 3 days ago
If you are searching for faith-based marriage counseling in Sarasota, you may already know what you want. Perhaps you want your faith to be part of the work from the first conversation. Or perhaps you are not sure yet, and you simply want to know it is safe to ask a question. Either way, this post is a good place to start.
Many couples come to us at a hard point. Some have been growing apart for a long time. Some are living with one painful moment that keeps coming back. Others are tired of having the same conversation over and over. You do not need to have the words figured out before you reach out. Couples who are planning to marry are welcome too. Premarital preparation is part of what we offer, for couples who want a steady foundation before the wedding.
What faith looks like in our counseling
At Relational Skills, faith is part of the work by choice. Our counseling is Christ-centered, and we draw on biblical principles when they help. We do not push scripture on anyone who did not ask for it. The tone is warm and non-condemning, because a couple who feels judged rarely opens up.
If you would prefer a lighter touch, tell us when you call. We would rather you know what to expect than walk into a first session unsure of what kind of help you are getting.
Who you will meet
Our practice is led by a husband-and-wife counseling team. They have been married for 40+ years, and they bring that lived experience, along with their background in counseling and ministry, to every session. You will not be handed off to a stranger. The people you speak with on the phone are the people who will sit with you.

Private, in person or online
Our office is in Sarasota at 2650 Bahia Vista St, Suite 209. We also offer online sessions for couples and individuals who live outside Florida, so distance does not have to keep you from getting help.
We are a private pay practice. We do not bill insurance, so our work together is not shaped by insurance rules. We can provide an invoice you may submit for possible reimbursement yourself.
Individual counseling is also available. If one spouse is hesitant, that person can still come in alone, and individual counseling can be a meaningful place to begin.
Weekly counseling or a two-day Intensive
Couples often ask how the two paths differ. Weekly counseling suits steady growth over time, with sessions spread across weeks. Our Marriage Intensive is different. It is a private two-day experience for one couple, not a group retreat. It runs 16 hours over two days and is held in our Sarasota office or online.
The Intensive is focused work, but it is not a quick fix. It cannot promise to resolve every issue in one or two days, and we will not tell you otherwise. Which path fits your situation is a question our counselors answer with you, usually in an initial conversation.

What to expect when you reach out
Booking is simple. You can book online through our website, call +1 941-241-2810, or email info@relationalskills.org. Intake forms can be completed in advance, so the first session can start with less paperwork.
Saturday and evening times, and Intensive dates, tend to fill early. If no time suits you, reach out anyway, and we will try to find one. If you need to cancel or move an appointment, please contact us as soon as you can, so that time can go to someone else who needs it.
You do not need to share personal details in writing before we speak. Keep the first conversation for the call, where you can say as much or as little as you choose.
If you or your spouse is in danger right now, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You can also call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, at any time.
Take the first step with a free 15-minute call
If you are not sure where to begin, book our free 15-minute call. It is a short, unhurried conversation to talk through your concerns and see whether our work fits what you are looking for. There is no pressure to commit. If you would like more room to talk, our $150 Consultation is a full hour with our counselors, and it goes deeper than the free call.
Book online, call +1 941-241-2810, or email info@relationalskills.org to request a time.
You do not have to have everything figured out before you call. Many couples begin with one honest sentence, and that is enough to start.
