Opposites attract.
There is so much to that little statement…powerful implications in our physical world as well as in our emotional world. Let me explain…
In Newton’s Third Law of Motion, that is physics, a negative charge and a positive charge that are in close to each other will move, collide and bond. Intrinsically, in human dynamics opposites also attract. It is a man and a woman; an introvert and extrovert; a serious side with a humerous side.
From the beginning of time this truth holds true:
In Genesis from the first verse and chapter God shows us the distinction between two environmental opposites. He divides heaven from earth, light from darkness, water from land and so on. Then he goes on to make, in His own image, mankind. Genesis 1:27 states, “So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.” (NIV). From observation and biology we know the differences between male and female and just how opposite they are! Getting even more granular, down in verse 24b it states, “…..and they became one.” That’s right: you two are really one!
Utilizing this data, it has been observed through the ages that when we are on the lookout for a suitable helpmate opposites do indeed attract. The very traits you may not possess are the very ones you are on the hunt for. This takes place in the unconscious mind. You search for the ideal candidate with the wherewithal to “help” you with those qualities you neither possess intrinsically or have been wounded in childhood. Recognizing that God, in His divine wisdom, arranged a meeting for you two to “collide” because He knew you would need each other, interdependently, for the journey.
Now that's good news!
